In honor of the new Magic set, I decided to give you my own opinion of the top 10 cards from the set. I'm sure you may not agree with me, but as I said, this is just my own opinion.
1. Cavern of Souls: This is a great land for decks of all formats. It's already at a price of $21.00, and that's the low end. This'll be a card to watch, for sure.
2. Entreat the Angels: My husband opened a couple boxes hoping to see this card, but was disappointed. Nothing says war like an army of angels. This card has shot from $4 up to $20. It'll be interesting to see how this card sees play.
3. Vexing Devil: This card essentially works as a cheaper Burst Lighting if your opponent wants to be rid of him. Your opponent is forced to choose between taking 4 damage now to get rid of this 4/3 devil for 1 red, or take the chance of him possibly beating your face in later. hmm...what to do...
4. Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded: First of all, he's a planeswalker at 2 red. That by itself is pretty great. Add to that the fact that it's red with card draw. It does force you to discard a card at random, which could potentially hurt you, but considering a mono-red deck, you can't really complain. His other two abilities pretty much guarantee the end to your opponent.
5. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage: There is a good reason this card is sitting pretty at $30 a pop. Once she hits the table, your opponent has 3 turns to put her out of her misery before things get insane. No maximum handsize? I get all cards that go to my graveyard back? OK!
6. Sigarda, Host of Harons: I looked at a ton of top lists for this set and never saw this card mentioned. I find that interesting. First of all, this is a flying creature with HEXPROOF. You get up against an opponent without flying creatures and you could potentially run them over. I have a feeling this card will skyrocket once the set rotates.
7. Griselbrand: This is another card that didn't really make the spotlight, but I really do think it deserves it. This card was one of my husband's picks and I fully agree. This guy is just sick. Watch out for him. One thing that confuses me though, "Pay 7 life: Draw seven cards". Why switch between the symbol and the word??? Anyone know?
8. Primal Surge: What's this? 10 mana and I could potentially play my entire deck for free??? Hmm...Sure! I don't think this card was given it's due. It could have serious potential in the right deck.
9. Alchemist's Refuge: YAY! Vedalken Orrey, in land form! This card may not be the best card for standard, but it's a great fit for a commander deck. I expect we'll see a lot of it in other formats as well.
10. Terminus: It was a tough choice for this last card. I'm a white player at heart (that was NOT a race joke, or pun BTW) so this seemed like the best choice. By itself this card is descent, pay 5 mana to put all creatures on the bottom of their owner's decks. The thing that makes this card great is the fact that it has miracle, making it only cost 1. Got a late game deck? Are you beating my face in? Not anymore...
So those are my own views. Feel free to let me know if you have any top picks. I'm really curious to see what cards will actually see play. I'm also interested to see what cards people have deemed unworthy. Let me know! Don't forget to subscribe to catch up on all things nerdy!

My Shiny New +1 Life of Living
I decided to start this blog to try and kick down those social walls placed between so called "nerds" and the rest of society. High school saw me as a geek, but as far as I knew, all nerds were socially inept guys who played dungeons and dragons in their parents basements while dressed in cosplay. Now I know that was only partly true. (I have played D&D in my friend's basement, but it's okay now, he's happily married in his own home.) I have gone from nearly condemning this social group to embracing them and loving them, considering them my own family. Talk about coming full circle. I am now happily married to a very nerdy but loving man with 2 little nerdlings, a 5 month old son and a 2 year old daughter. I have replaced parties and social events for crocheted moogle hats and D&D sessions. I will add everything from product reviews for board games, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Drangons, and more, as well as craft projects, and life in general for our family of nerds.
